In response to your interest in Cheeks in the transportation industry in OK: My father talked of a mule freight line that his father William Shadrack Cheek and father-in-law William Tinlin operated between Fort Scott Kansas and Arkansas City, Kansas which is on the OK/KS line. Also two of my father's brothers Charles Cheek and Melvin Cheek worked at the Santa Fe shops in Arkansas City in 1907 according to the newspaper account of the drowning death of another brother Ira Cheek there in 1907.We have a picture of William Shadrack, and two sons, Willy and Edward(my father) with the mule teams.
My Grandmother kept a journal of sorts and it was written in Nevada, MO on the pages of a Missouri Pacific Yard check ledger where Charles worked later.
Wm Euphrates, son of James A.,was the son of Shadrack as was my ggrandfather Robert Cheek.Would be interested in what you have learned on the transportation front.Roger Cheek
