John Cheney & Hannah Valentine (married 1817) of Ohio
Posted by: Donald Valentine (ID *****1205) Date: December 07, 2006 at 14:36:45
  of 1923

My gr-gr-grandfather, Daniel Valentine, had an older sister Hannah who was born in Turkey, now New Providence, NJ on 10 August 1789. Her parents moved the entire family to Champaign County, Ohio in 1805. There Hannah married a John Cheney on 3 April 1817. They later moved next door to Logan County, where John died 29 February 1836 leaving 11 children. In 1848 Hannah moved all her children to Rock Island Co., Ill. where she died 24 February 1876 in Rural Township. She had other family members there as well.

This John Cheney is reported variously as having been born in either Maryland or Virginia but I have not been able to learn anything about him or his ancestry. Is any of this familiar to anyone? I would be glad to help with information on Hannah's family and would appreciate any assistance with John's.

Thanks to any who might assist,
Don Valentine
