Cheneys of Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin
Posted by: Patricia Cheney Karl (ID *****5926) Date: April 11, 2007 at 07:32:54

I have found MUCH info on my Cheneys (CHEE-knee) since my last post in 2002. I am still stuck on a few things. My ggg-grandmother Mary Ann Hicks Cheney apparently died after 1860 but before 1870 as did her daughter Martha Malvina Cheney (d. 1866). I cannot find a cemetery in Rock county that Mary Ann and Martha are buried in. The only Cheneys buried there are my Cheneys but not Mary Ann or her children. I would LOVE to hear from anyone who is related through Charles Chauncey and Mary Ann Hicks Cheney. My line goes through their son Alonzo. Alonzo died May 18, 1887 in Aurora Nebraska and is buried there. His daughter Ella was raised by his brother Chauncey and his wife Sarah in Clintonville, WI after Alonzo left his wife in Minnesota and married my gg-grandmother Olive Averill. I lose Ella after Chauncey moves to California. If these names ring any bells with anyone, I would love to hear from you. I have tons of info on them outside the Pope book if anyone is interested.
