This is to let you know that further research has shown that this immigrant Richard Cheney/Cheyney was not literate, and neither were his sons who signed with an initial. He can't be the Richard Cheney who signed his name to a proclamation back in Ripple, Kent, England, in February 1643, acknowledging loyalty to King Charles I. I believe he is a descendant of one untraced branch in Kent, however.
