John Cheney alias Simpson, Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Posted by: Katharine E. Harbury (ID *****2117) Date: April 24, 2011 at 17:27:37
  of 1923

Who was the John Cheney, father of the John Cheney alias Simpson? In June 1741, John Cheney alias Simpson's mother was named as Mary Simpson. John Cheney the father was having him bound to "John Cheney" (the father or someone else with the same name?), until he became of age. He was to be given sufficient food, drink, etc. and learn to read and write, and be given a suit of clothes when his term expired. Was this John Cheney alias Simpson later the John Cheney who married the widow Mary Simmons ca. 1750 and moved to Frederick County? I am still in the process of sorting out all these different John Cheneys in this time period outside of my own John Cheney.
