Jonathan Chesley, father to Nicholas

I've come across information that suggests that my forebear, Nicholas Chesley was the son of Jonathan Chesley, who was named as a participant at the Battle of Fort William & Mary in Portsmouth, NH in December of 1774 -- what some consider to be the actual opening salvo of the Revolutionary War, fought months before Concord & Lexington.

I also found some information that traces Jonathan's ancestors back to a Philip Chesley who was born in England in 1606 or 1607 and then emmigrated to the Americas between then and 1642 -- ending up in Dover, NH by that year. Does anyone have any information on Jonathan Chesley? His dates/places are: b. 1736 Durham, NH; d. 1826 Barnstead, NH. Any information would be helpful, esp. spouse, parents.
