The original wedding list remains in the possession of the grandson of the groom. His wife has kindly provided copies to a few of their distant cousins, me among them. (My grandfather was cousin to his grandfather.)
The list is most interesting to me as I attempt to identify family members among the invitees. As the list gives postal addresses, I thought the information might be of interest to those working on the families of friends also invited.
In a sense a wedding invitation list is a textual snapshot of an event. For tracing family roots it can be of more value than a photo as it gives names and addresses which have a high probablility of accuracy within the time period established.
