Richard Chew & daughter Emmeline

My great great grandmother EMMELINE CHEW was born in 1812 to the father: RICHARD CHEW(don't know the mother's name) in GERMANTOWN, PA. I do have a PHOTO of Emmeline (Chew) Nichols with her 6 grand children. she married a JOHN NICHOLS about 1830 in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania. the photo was taken in 1885 in Iowa where they eventually traveled to after all their children were born in New Jersey. I have heard that Richard Chew owned a fleet of ships out of the Germantown, PA area, but not sure. I would immagine Richard Chew lived late 1700's to early 1800's. I haven't been able to get the 1820 census of the Germantown, PA area yet... how would I get this? thanks for any information, Kathy Lampi of Grand Rapids, MN.
Emmeline (Chew) Nichols is buried not too far away from here..in Akeley, MN in 1908.
