1. Agnes McGregor1,2, born 1657 in Scotland, British Isles3; died 1730 in Port Royal, Caroline Co., VA3. She was the daughter of 2. Robert McGregor and 3. Elizabeth Elspit Buchanan. She married (1) Richard Roy4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 1675 in Port Royal, Virginia16. He was born 1659 in King and Queen County, VA17, and died 1729 in Stratton Major Parish, King and Queen County, VA18. He was the son of Hugh Roy and Elizabeth Roy.

Notes for Agnes McGregor:
At least one source claims Richard married Anges McGregor, daughter of Rob Roy McGregor. However, this does not seem possible, considering dates, etc. Agnes McGregor is a possibility for the wife of Richard Roy, but if so then she could not have been the daughter of Rob Roy McGregor. This speculation is based on a note found in a Gordon family bible, and there is nothing to prove this name. No marriage has been found. RER

"Richard Roy seems to have married ca. 1678 and to have three or more children. (No marriage record has been found). Hannah, John , James and perhaps William were children. (James was my ancestor)" (N.R. Roy)

4. Our Roy Ancestors, by Elmon Harold Roy 1978, pps. 1, 2., Hugh Roy had a son named Richard. Richard was born about 1657, according to information from Nancy Reba Roy. He lived in King and Queen County, Virginia. This writer was told by the County Court Clerk that the King and Queen County records were destroyed in the 1860's. However, we were able to obtain some data on Richard Roy from other sources. From Tyler's Quarterly, October, 1936 (found in the Virginia State Library) we learned that Richard was listed on the Quit Rent Roll in King and Queen County in 1704. Richard Roy was a member of the Church of England (now the Protestant Episcopal Church) , and he was a vestryman in Stratton Major Parish in King and Queen County at the time of his death in 1729. We saw a copy of this parish book in the Virginia State LIbrary in Richmond. We stopped at Stratton Major Parish to look for Richard's grave, but we were unable to find it. Of course, the old church building has long ago been replaced by a newer one. The County Clerk told us that the Roys of King and Queen County wer prominent citizens.

(According to my records, they left out one generation, The father of Thomas Roy was John Guy Roy, and his grandfather was Richard Roy, who is said to have married Agnes McGregor. However, Rob Roy McGregor was born March 7, 1671 and married Mary Helen in January, 1693. This would make Rob Roy born after Richard married. If Richard married an Agnes, she must have been an aunt of Rob Roy. Perhaps their line is correct, but we are looking at the wrong Thomas. Needs work.) (*Robert E. Roy).

Looks like pretty good info to me.
Still have never found out where people got the names Mary Marsh and Dorothy Peyton as wife's of Richard Roy

I think that Richard's son John Roy was the one married to Dorothy Buckner - Widow of Charles Smith.....
