Bob, this is very helpful to me. I appreciate your response. It does open up new areas for research. Sometime ago I had seen information that Mary's father Colby Chew had died in Shelby Co. Illinois. I now have a strong reason to check that out. It may be that Thomas and Mary went to Illinois with her father and their 3 sons remained in Ohio.

Also, I had not known about the "Genealogy of Chew". I have done considerable research on the Chews, but have not come accross this book.

Have you researched Colby Chew's namesake, the first Colby Chew? Last year I researched George Washington's papers and enjoyed learning firsthand accounts of his exploits.

Thanks again for your assistance. Please feel free to contact me (grovesandrock@yahoo.com) if you want to compare notes on the Chews.
