The Book of Chew says that Joseph and Ruth had one child, Larkin. Larkin married Hanna Roy in 1695 and had five children, Joseph, Thomas, Ann, John, and (3)Larkin. The figure (3) is the 3rd generation of Chew. The Mary Chew you are looking for comes from the family of(3) Larkin. 3 Larkin b.1710 Spots Co Va, married Sep. 1733 to Mary Beverly, d/o Henry, 3 children, Larkin, Elizabeth, and Mary. Mary, daughter of 3 Larkin was born 1740 Spots Co Va, married John Morris Smith, Va. He died 1765, Children Larkin, Mary, Elizabeth, Morris, and John. She remarried after John's death to an Oliver Towles and their children were Ann, Molly, Oliver, Harry, and Frances. In 1765 when her husband John Smith died, Her father,(3) Larkin took guardianship of Mary and Elizabeth Smith. Cannot help you any further on the Smith's.
The Smith information came from a reference listed in the back of the "Chew Book" "Smith of Virginia", 3v,1966; "Marriage of Some Virginia Residents, 1607 to 1800" written by Wulfeck.
My Chew line goes back to Thomas, a brother of (3)Larkin.
There is a large reference section in the "Book of Chew", written by Robert Chew. My Grandmother researched her Chew roots in the 1950's and the dates and family lines in this book match the information she had gathered. Hope some of this information can help you.
