I am also researching my branch of the Chidley family tree. I will write what I know and, as Paul said, maybe we can help each other. My great-grandfather was Joseph Charles Chidley, who was born in Kent, England in 1862. He immigrated to Canada (on his own) at about 9 yrs. old. He was adopted (I think) and settled in Hastings county Ontario and married Frances Murphy in 1885. His parents were Charles Chidley and Priscilla Windsor. I have found several Chidleys in Kent in the early 1800s, but so far, no link between them and my direct ancestors. Hope this is of some interest. Sue.
