CHIDLEYS IN LONDON AND WORCESTERSHIRE

  of 87

On 9 June 1807, Thomas Chidley married Ann Spencer at St Luke's, Old Street Finsbury. On 11 September 1808, their son George was christened at St Clement Danes, Westminster.

George married Sarah Ellins in July 1829 at Stoke Prior in Worcestershire. They had seven children, four of whom died in infancy. Two daughters, Emily Chidley and Ann Spencer Chidley, never married. A son, Thomas Henry Chidley, married Mary Ann Cooper and had nine children, three of whom died in infancy. The others were George William Chidley (subsequently Comptroller of Southwark Cathedral), Frank Cooper Chidley (a priest whose mission was mainly in British Guyana but was also for a time priest-in-charge at Goole), Alan Charlesworth Chidley, Helen ("Nell") Sarah Chidley, Edgar Blackford Chidley, and Kathleen Dora Chidley (a schoolmistress). George William had two daughters and a son, who died when young. Edgar Blackford had three daughters, viz Mary, Janet (my mother) and Barbara. The others were childless.
