Are you new at genealogy? How far have you gotten? First, list your parents names. Then your grandparents. Ask your parents and grandparents about your great grandparents, and possibly your great-great grandparents. Get as much info. as you can. Dates and places of birth, marriage, death, military service. Children's names, dates, etc. Also, your name was probably spelled differently at different times, check also under Childs, Childes, Chiles, etc.
