Daniel Child was in Capt. James Hatch’s company at the Lexington Alarm and sergeant under his brother, Capt. Abijah Child, Col. Boud’s regiment, in the expedition to Ticonderoga in 1777. There were twenty-two of this name and family who served in the Revolution.

• Note:
Samuel moved to Wells ME when he was about seven years old. More than likely he was an apprentice to Samuel Wheelwright, Esq with whom he lived. On 5/30/1684 he purchased a two hundred acre farm from Mrs. Mary Bowles. He later, in 1701, sold half of it to Joseph Littlefield. He was a proprietor in 1715/17 in Wells ME. He deposed on 6/??/1750 and gave his age as 94 years old. His will was proved on 10/16/1753 in Wells ME.

Will Text: In the Name of God Amen. The third Day of Febry Anno Domini 174 1/2. I Samuel Hatch of Wells in the County of York in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Husbandman being weak of Body but of perfect Mind & Memory, Thanks be given to God, therefore calling to mind ye Mortality of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die, do make & ordain this my last Will & Testamt that is to Say, principally and first of all, I give & recomend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it, and my Body I recomend to the Earth to be buried in decent christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executor, Nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I Shall receive the Same again by the mighty Power of God. And as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give demise & dispose of the Same in the following Maner & Form ViztItem. I give & bequeath to my beloved Daughter Bethia Butland one feather Bed imedediately after my Decease besides what I have already given her. Item. I give & bequeath to my beloved Son Benjamin Hatch five Shillings in Money to be paid by my Executor imediately after my Decease, besides what I have already given him. Item. I give & bequeath unto the Children of my beloved Daughtr Iemima Freethy Decd five Shillings Money to be paid by my Execr immediately after my Decease besides what I have already given her. Item. • Note: Phillip immigrated to Ricmond Island ME (now Cape Elizabeth) on 2/13/1636 or 37. He arrived on the ship Hercules and was a fisherman. In 1638 he was living with John Winter when John and Trelawny mowed the marsh grass on both sides of the Swurrumke river at Spurwink. On 11/23/1648 he purchased a house in York ME from George Parker. He served in 1663 as a Constable. On 7/18/1663 he mortgaged his house to Major Pendleton.
