Hi Donald,
I did some more Childers research. It seems that Millner Childers born 1755 of Wilkes Co NC (arrived there around 1790) was probably a grandson of the Millner Childers who died 1741 in Henrico Co VA.This older Millner's wife was named Catherine (found his estate records). Some online trees say his mother was Mary Millner. There were a lot of Millners in Henrico County.I'm not sure which one was the father yet.Abraham Childers of Henrico who died 1698, in his will mentions wife Anne, and sons named Abraham, Henry, Phillimon, Robert and John. One online tree says Jon was the older Millner's father.Abraham Sr.'s father was Philemon Childers who died 1686 Henrico(his sons were Abraham, Henry and Robert).
Finding this older Millner and wife Catherine Childers from Henrico supports my theory that my ancestor Catherine born c1795 (who married David Wilkey c1815 in Wilkes NC was the daughter of Millner born 1755 and wife Sarah.David and Catherine Wilkey had children named William, Sarah, Thomas Wiley, James, Susannah and Zachariah, and several grandsons were named Willis and Wiley (those names were rampant in my Wilkey line for several generations).David Wilkey was bondsman for the marriages of your Willis and for John Childers. David and Catherine moved to Hall Co. GA in 1838 when Millner and Sarah moved there. They lived nearby in GA.
I think your Willis Childers was a likely son of Millner born 1755 and wife Sarah.I haven't yet figured out where the names Willis and Wiley came from.An older Willis was in Wilkes NC around 1800, possibly Millner's brother.Maybe Willis or Wiley was the last name of Sarah.
