I have been working on this family for many, many years with little luck. But this is what I have:
James who went by his middle name Locket Childers was living with his mother Jane in the 1850 census for Harris Co., Ga., p. 93 of the 19th District.Locket was 19 years old at this time. His census ages vary, but he was born bet. 1825-1831.
Locket had an older sister Elizabeth Childers who was my ancestor. She married Jacob Moore. In the 1860 census for Russell Co., Al. around Salem, p. 86, no. 621, was Jane Childers with her daughter Elizabeth Childers Moore and her two youngest daughters, Nancy Cason Moore and Mary Jane Moore. The daughters are listed as N. C. Moore and M. J. Moore.Mary Jane was my great grandmother.
In the 1870 census for Harris Co., Ga., p. 248, Household # 97 Hamilton, was Elizabeth Childers Moore and family.Household # 96 was Locket and his family.
In the 1880 census for Harris Co., Ga., Valley Plains, p. 444A Elizabeth was living with her brother Locket and his family.
Locket died in Tallapoosa Co., Al. on 7 March 1917.He was in the Confederate Army from Al., but I can't put my hands on this information at the moment.
I have seen information on Missouri's parentage on line and about her death. She was at least part Indian.Supposedly, the Childers were Indians too, but I have not been able to prove it.Nor have I figured out who mother Jane Childers was married to.
