If you email me privately I will send you more details of the information. I also have pictures of Charles' home. I have other descendants of Elijah you may or may not have contact with. Cousins are cousins no matter what side of the family they are on.

Why Rawleigh was like this is anyone's guess. However I feel that there is much more to the story. I have a feeling that Rawleigh and Margaret were truly in love and for whatever reason did not/could not marry each other originally. Maybe Rawleigh was encouraged to marry Esther because of her family status. All these sorted details appear to have begun after the death of Esther's father, probably once Rawleigh was secure in knowing Esther got her father's estate, etc. Callous though he may have been, and considering his status in life maybe thought he could do as he pleased, I think he loved Margaret a great deal.

My direct line after Rawleigh, which included son Thomas and then Rawleigh were plagued with troubled stories. Thomas who married Ann Conway after the death of his wife Sarah Mitchel, was accused by Ann's father of being responsible for her death by beating her.

His son Rawleigh was charged with the murder of a slave but after testimony by his brother charges were dismissed. Seems they got in trouble a lot but as most wealthy families do........ also appeared to have things go their way.

Same held true for Charles and Scythia. They too were charged with cohabitating however many continuances were extended to the case/court dates and so eventually they were married before ever having to appear and answer to the charge.

I love this family despite the "horror stories" but then again I'm sure a lot of families had them but are yet to be discovered. jray38@neo.rr.com
