Hi Roger I have tried but failed to contact you on your e-mail address. However thank you for your message and I was interested to see that Thomas Chipchase was a shoemaker. All my Chipchases including gt x 3 grandfather his son and his son were all shoe/bootmakers. It is obviously a family profession, especially as all were living in Stepney, Whitechapel and Mile End New Town. Do you know the maiden name of Mary Ann as I have found a Thomas Chipchase marrying a Mary Ann Port or Chesterton on 24th Dec 1871 (the date seems to fit) They married at St Mary Spital or Wheeler Chapel in Spitalfields. This is near to Whitechapel and Mile End New Town. I dont know if this is of any help. If you check out some of the web sites for Stepney/Whitechapel etc you will find various Chipchase families. I am sure that they are all connected in some way. However I am myself stuck in finding a birth record in 1830, although I know his father from the marriage records. Please let me know if I can help any further. Regards Rosalind Notify Administrator about this message?
