Sheila. Back from vacation. Info I have from 1881 UK cansus: I have Ellis F. Chorlton(27 yrs) married to Mary ann(24yrs). These are actually listed as CHARLTON, CENSUS place is Cheadle, Cheshire. Also at same address Charles Charlton married to Amanda(Oliver). This couple I believe to be my great-grandparents. Others listed-my gfather Charles H.
All this info was derived from FHL Film 13341835.I cannot go any further back than this Ellis listed above. My father's name was Ellis. Altho Ellis is listed as a cotton spinner, the first Chas. is listed as an iron moulder and that is the trade my gfather and father pursued.
If you have anything further, let me know.
