Chorpenning History Published
I hadn't realized how prolific the Chorpenning clan has been until fairly recently. There are many of us out there!
Frank Winslow Chorpenning published a book "A Chorpenning History" copyright 1997.He said that it was out of print, but he sent me part of it in manuscript form.
Frank lists his address as 275 Hyatts Road,Delaware, OH 43015.
Incidently, he dedicated the book to my father's namesake "Major George Chorpenning Jr" who was involved in establishing the Pony Express 1841 to 1860.
He outlines the family's departure from Alsace Lorraine during a Hugenot Uprising, it's stay in the Netherlands and the arrival of Hendrick and his three sons in Philadelphia in 1751.
Within the new world, the name has changed several times.Chorpenning is the way my family spells it, and we don't pronounce the "h")It is also seen Corpenning.Sometimes, the "n's" are doubled and sometimes not.
He lists all the descendants he could fine and he includes a chart. He also included a Coat of Arms for "Coerpenning" which may or may not be authentic.
