Pamela,

Thank you for your family genealogy research, very thoughtful of you.

I don't think it will help me, hopefully it will help someone else.

I am searching for information about Adam Crist b. in 1830 Berks Co., Reading, PA This is what his obituary stated. I do know he arrived in Illinois, Henderson County, Raritan Twp. around 1850, he married 1855; he and wife lived and died in this same area. May of their children's families still live in the area.

I have followed everyones Christ/Crist lines and I cannot find a connection for my Adam.

Adam's daughter, my grandmother had told my Dad and myself that Adam said where he was born (as was in his obit), his parents died at a young age; Adam then lived with another family, they did not treat him kindly so he left. I feel he did tell his daughter this story as she seemed to be fairly close to him as she always read to him.

I had a lady in Reading do some research for me and she came up with nothing. I am wondering if he was born in another township or county then perhaps lived with another family that moved to there or where? When he left did he take his Mother's maiden name or was his surname really Crist.

Have you run into any of these problems that can't seem to be solved. One would think in Wills, guardianships, Orphan's court something would have shown to help, but not in Berks Co., Rading, PA

Thanks again for posting your genealogy, I am sure there are people like me with lost relatives you will have helped.

Pat in Illinois
