I can't make the connection for you, but my husband's family (Christ) was from Buffalo, NY. John Christ, my husband's great-grandfather, was born in Darmstadt,Germany around 1834. I found him in the 1870 census for Buffalo, NY with his wife, Augusta, and children: Wilhelmene (age 12), Marie (age 10), Johann (age 8), Charles (age 5), Lena (age 3)and August (age 7 mos). John Christ and family appear again in the 1880 census for Buffalo but without the child, August (deceased?) and with the adddition of a child, Augusta (age 7 at that time).

Charles Christ was my husband's grandfather. Possibly you are descended from Johann Christ? Johann, known in his later years as "John", died in Buffalo in 1937. Based on the census information, he would have been born around 1862.

During my last visit to our public library's genealogy section, I noticed a number of volumes on the history of Buffalo, NY. Glancing through the index, I found more Christs in Buffalo than I listed above. I haven't had time to investigate further. But you are clearly on the right track! If you discover that we are related, let us know, and I will do the same.

(Are you the Cynthia Christ who was the subject of a magazine article a year or two ago? Maybe from Minnesota or Illinois? Something about computers or shipping or advertising? If so, send an email direct to my home. I thought about contacting you - through the employer named in the article - but obviously never did.)
