Nancy,

I am so embarassed that it has taken me months to respond to your message. But it's only recently that I've verfied information on my family. I'm not sure if we have a connection yet. This is what I have found.

I've been able to get back to my Great Great Grandfather Adolph Christ, b.1830-40 Germany, d.10/9/1890. (Note: the 1880 census had some problems and Adolph was identified as "Arthur.")

Adolph married Wilhelmina Vesper b.3/18/1846 Prussia, d.1910-12. They had 7 children: Frederick (B.1868), George (1870-1910), Emil (b.1875), Martin (b.1877), Adelheid (b.1879), Clara (b.1881) and Louis (b.1885).

George is my Ggrandfather. He married Florence Stanton. They had 7 children: George (b.1892), Clarence (b.1894 d.1927), Harold (b.1900-1) Evelyn (b.1904), Florence (b.1906), Gladys (b.1908) and Ethel (b.1911). George died 12/19/1912, while working as a train conductor he was apparently struck by a train. Ethel was born soon after his death.)

As I stated in my earlier E-mail, Clarence is my grandfather. He too died at a young age, 33, in 1927, explosion at the Atlas Parafin works/SOCONY oil refinery.

Looks like your John/Johann Christ and my Adolph are about the same age. Do you know where John lived in Buffalo? My Christs lived in the Shumway/William/Smith St. area for nearly 50 years. I've also just learned that Adolph and most of his children are buried in St. Matthew's Cemetery in West Seneca. Do you know where your Christs are buried? Do you remember the titles to those volumes on the history of Buffalo, NY?

I'm in Connecticut some 20+ years. I'm heading to Buffalo for Labor Day weekend to visit family and do research. Let me know if there's some information I can try to locate for you.

Thanks,
Cindy
