In Reply to: John Christ, 1770 Berks Co., PA - 1836 Trumbull Co., OH by Kathleen Frailey Puls of 283

I am not related, just sharing. Would like to know the parents names of Minnie (CHRIST) Mcaleer.

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 24
page 187

Mrs. Minnie Christ Mcaleer.
DAR ID Number: 23532
Born in Lancaster, Pa.
Wife of John Stuart McAleer.

Descendant of Capt. Henry Christ, Sergt. Henry Christ, Jr., John Worden, Aaron Stark, Thomas Gould and James Gould.

There seems to be a mistake as it does not show Minnie's parents! We need to know who are her parents?

Granddaughter of
John Christ and Elizabeth Hoffman, his wife; (this is repeated twice)

Granddaughter of
John Christ and Elizabeth Hoffman, his wife;
Stephen Gould and Temperance Soxe, his wife.

Gr.-granddaughter of
Henry Christ and Elizabeth Christ, his wife;
Elijah Gould and Sarah Worden, his wife.

Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of
Henry Christ, Jr., and Appelonia, his wife;
James Gould and Katie Smith his wife;
John Worden and Hannah Stark, his wife.

Gr.-gr.-gr.-granddaughter of
Thomas Gould and Ann Smith, his wife;
Aaron Stark and Margaret, his wife.

Henry Christ, (1718-89), served in the militia until 1777, when illness compelled him to resign. He held many offices of trust in Berks county. He was born in Germany; died in Reading, Pa.

Henry Christ, Jr., (1762-1848), served as sergeant, 1780, [p.187] in Capt. Charles Gibson's company of Berks county militia. He was born in Reading; died in Lancaster, Pa.

John Worden, (1739-1842), was placed on the pension roll of Luzerne Co., Pa., 1831, for service of private in the Pennsylvania Continental Line. He was born in Horse Neck, Conn.; died in Wallkill, Orange Co., N. Y.

Aaron Stark, (1732-78), served as a private at Wyoming, where he lost his life. His name is on the monument erected to commemorate these patriots.

Thomas Gould, (1733-76), served as a private in the Connecticut militia at the battle of Long Island, where he lost his life.

James Gould, (1755-93), was a private in Capt. Robert Durkee's regiment at the battles of Mud Creek, Mill Stone, Bound Brook, Brandywine and Germantown. He died in Dallas, Pa.

BIOGRAPHY: Some Records of Persons by the name of Worden
Particularly of over One Thousand of the Ancestors, Kin and Descendants of John and Elizabeth Worden of Washington County, Rhode Island By O. N. Worden Lewisburg, Pa.:
Printed at the Railway Press of J.R. Cornellus 1868 Page 137-138
John Worden the Centennary Pensioner, was a cooper by trade. He was b. 29 March, 1739, at "the Horse Neck," in the lower corner of Connecticut, near the line of York State, but moved with his father to Pawlingstown; m, in Dutchess Co., Hannah Stark, the mother of his children, a reputed relative of Generals John Stark and Wm. Stark Rosecrans. She was a superior woman, of the Baptist order, as was also his 2d wife, whose maiden name was Preston, from Rhode Island. She m, first,_____Wood; next, _____ Ames, "a Revolutioner;" and , last, John Worden. She lived to be 100 or 101 years old. Her domestic and social qualities, her cheerful disposition and Christian virtue-and particularly her garden-received the high encomiums of her near neighbor, Hon. Charles Miner, the Historian of Wyoming. (See Wilkes-Barre Advocate or Montrose Spectator, Mar. or Ap. 1840.) Their home on (The Plains," north-east from Wilkes-Barre, was surrounded by so many of his sons' houses that the place was known as "Wordentown." The town is no more, and the family have moved away. The were more zealous hunters than farmers. Before, during, and after the Revolution, they were everywhere among the most expert marksmen, and first in athletic feats.
What time John Worden came into the Valley I did not learn, but he was absent with other Wyoming men-at Bound Brook or Morristown-at the time of the Massacre. He afterwards returned to Dutchess county, but in 1796 his name appears among the taxables of Pittston, on lands now valuable for the coal under them. About 1830, at a large gathering of Revolutionary Heroes in Luzerne county, John Worden, aged 90, was the oldest man. Abt 1840, his wife being dead, he went to live with his son and name-sake, in Wallkill,Orange Co., N. Y., where he d, 6 Jan. 1842, aged one hundred and two years, nine months, and nine days. His remains lie in Mapes' burying ground, new Howell's station, with an inscribed head stone-the oldest Worden whose age I have gleaned from a grave-yard record.

Note:
From Aaron Stark Family, Seven Generations, by Charles R. Stark, page 21, Individual #88
"Aaron Stark was born in Groton, Conn., Nov. 3, 1732. His name is found in the records of Wilkes-Barre Township as appearing for himself in the year 1772 to claim his right in the purchase. On 3rd of July, 1778, he was at the fort to protect his wife and children. His wife in her fear urged him to fly to his old home in Dutchess County [New York] to escape the fury of the savages, but he chose rather to stay and take his chances. The family fled to the fort and the father went forth to defend his loved ones from the cruel foe. After the troops broke and ran, Aaron and his son of the same name also fled and hid themselves in the driftwood along the river. The father was discovered by the savages and taken out and cruelly murdered before the very eyes of the son. After the massacre, his widow eventually found her way back to Dutchess County, taking five children with her. Her given name was Margaret. She afterwards married Stephen Stocker of that county. She died there about 1814. Aaron's name appears on the Wyoming monument as a victim of that day's tragedy."
