Hi,
The story passed down in my family is that our Christ family lived near the Germany-France borders.
France went Catholic and Germany went Lutheran. Those that wanted to keep their religious affiliation chose their country that way. It is possible that some families chose different religions especially once Martin Luther reformed the Catholic church. Keep those dates in mind and the proximity to the French-German borders that they lived near. This should help some. It is possible to have ancestors that are of different religious affilliations.
