Peggy,If I had realized how much work had already been done on the subject, I wouldn't have posted the "Look at" note. I have a few tidbits of information on the Chronisters only because of the connection to Margaret Elizabeth Napier, who was a sister of my gg-grandfather. William and Margaret Chronister owned a dry goods store in Moreland, Pope County, Arkansas. I don't know why Margaret was living in Cleveland, Conway Co., when she signed the affidavit for her mother (below, transcribed by someone else). I think that "Ersie" (wife of William J. Chronister) is Ursula E. Brashear, b. 1880 in Moreland, daughter of Walter Brashear (also spelled Brashears).--Kay

STATE OF Arkansas COUNTY OF ConwayIn the matter of the claim for pension of Mary H. Napier, widow of Archibald D. Napier,Personally came before me, a Notary Public, in and for the County and State aforesaid, M. E. Chronister [daughter of Archibald D. Napier] of Cleveland, County of Conway, State of Arkansas,person of lawful age, who being duly sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid claim as follows:That she was at Dover in the 26th day of October 1865 and saw Archibald D. Napier at the residence of Wm. Stouts? (hard to read) the said Archibald D. Napier was dead, having been killed the evening before I saw him, by unknown parties.[Rest of this document is illegible.]
