This is not my family. I found a note from 2001 in my files asking me to look for this information. I forgot to note for whom I was doing this for! Since I’m cleaning out all my Bowen files and discarding unnecessary items, I’m posting this here in hopes it gets to the right individual.
Rev. War Pension No. W.20751
John Bowen, of Otsego Co, New York, a Private in the Co. comm. by Capt. Asa Barnes of the Regt. Comm. by Col. Sargent. Allowed pension 6 Apr 1818, age 62, a res. of Otsego Co. NY. He married Abigail Chubb or Chabb on 12 Jul 1780. John died 30 Jan 1834. Abigail was allowed pension on 15 Aug 1838, age 81, in Otsego Co, where she still lived in 1843. John and Abigail’s children were: Benjamin b. 5 May 1781; Roxey b. 15 Jun 1783; Eli b. 3 Jun 1785, d. 26 Sep 1787; Son b. 3 Jun 1787, d. 6 Jun 1787; John b. 4 Aug 1788; Elisha b. 26 Jan 1790; Achsah (sp?) b. 15 March 1792; Erastus b. 13 Jun 1794; Betsey b. 13 Dec 1796; Almira b. 4 Jan 1799.

NOTES:
1. Dates of marriage and births of children given in his pension file do not match those given in the Barbour Collection of Vital Records.
2. There is no Eli listed in Barbour’s Collection, but he lists a son named Ebenezer that is not named in John’s pension file. Perhaps Ebenezer is the unnamed son in John’s pension file who died young.
3. Birth dates for Elisha and Achsah appear to be reversed, as Elisha was 51 years old at the time of his death.
