Hi Robin,

I hope I will not confuse you too much although you may already be aware of this information. But shall add it to the posting in the hope others can shed some further light on the trail for us.

On the LDS site I found:
Henry Lowe married abt 1817 Elizabeth Mary Johnson
FreeBMD site I found:
Elizabeth Sarah Loe married Isaac James Goodlad/Goodland
(I think Elizabeth Sarah and Elizabeth Mary Johnson and the same person)- Re census below

LDS site I found:
Henry Loe & Elizabeth had a son Francis Robert Loe b. 29th June 1826 ch. 30 Jul 1826 St Leonards, Shoreditch. Francis Robert Loe married Charlotte Harrison

CENSUS for Francis Loe:
Surname listed as Lee in Census
1841 Census - Underwood Street - Mile End New Town - MDX
Elizabeth Lee (Loe)40- Independant
Susan Lee (Loe) 15 Bookseller
Francis Lee (Loe)15 Book Binder
John Lee (Loe) 12 Book Binder
Matilda Lee (Loe) 7
Charlotte Lee (Loe) 3
George Lee (Loe) 2 months

(This is when Elizabeth Sarah Loe marries Isaac Goodla/Goodland in Jun quarter 1850)

CENSUS for Francis Loe:
1851 Census - St Luke Old Street - MDX
Isaac Goodlad 48 (head) Glassdrop Pincher - Cripplgate
Elizabeth Sarah Goodlad 53 (wife) - Shoreditch
Francis Loe 24 (son) Staioner - Mile End
John Loe 23 (son) Jappaner - Mile End
Charlotte Loe 13 (dau) Box Maker - Mile End
George Loe 10 (son) - Mile End
Elizbaeth Goodlad 10 (dau) - Holloway

CENSUS for Francis Loe:
1861 Census - 47 Underwood Street - Stepney - MDX
Francis R Loe 34 Staioner - Spitalfields
Charlotte Loe 31 - Bethnal green
Francis J Loe 9 Scholar - Bishopgate
Joseph T Loe 7 Scholar - Stepney

Henry James Loe 3 - Stepney

(IGI Record lists - parents Francis & charlotte Loe birth of child Francis Joseph Loe b. 27th Feb 1852 ch. 21 Mar 1852 St Botolph Bishopgate - LDN)

CENSUS for Francis J Loe:
1881 Census - 102 Antill Road - London - MDX
Francis J Roe 29 Shop Stationer - London City
Hannah E Roe 29 - Bethnal green
Charlotte E Roe 1 - Mile End

CENSUS for Isaac Goodlad:
1861 Census - 2 Middle Row - Whitecross St
Isaac Goodlad - 58 - Glass Cutter - Cripplegate
Elizabeth Sarah Goodlad 63 - Shoreditch
Living next to them is Susannah Johnson with children Benjamin, Rebecca, Francis, not sure male, Maude & George. I know that Benjamin Johnson married Susannah Loe in June quarter 1842 and is Elizabeth Sarah Loe/Goodlad nee Johnson's daughter and therefore there is likely to be a family link to Elizabeth & Benjamin too.

Family Search has listed:
Isaac James Goodlad b. 25 Mar 1803 London ch. 14 Aug 1803 St Giles without, Cripplegate married abt 1850 Elizabeth Mary Johnson b. abt 1800 died 25 th jan 1869.

I think there is an inccorect listing for Isaac Goodlad in the 1871 census and he is the fellow listed as T J Goodlad (father) aged 68 widow Class Cutter - Cripplegate in the home of Maria Thomas in Islington, London and I think the 1881 CENSUS also has an incorrect listing for Isaac as being aged 63 in the District Workhouse Shepherdes Walk in Holborn. He is listed as a Glass Cutter b. Cripplegate so I am pretty sure this is the same Isaac Goodlad. FreeBMD has Isaac Goodlad as dying in Shoreditch aged 82 in 1886.

Now I am about to fossick about for marriages of the children etc and see what connections I can come up with as I think Lowe/Loe are one and the same but the name Loe seems to be the most used and it just seems a big coincidence that there is a middle name of 'Roe'.

Till Later
regards Joanne
