Dr. Orville, wife Sarah and their daughter arrived in Fairmont, then called Fair Mount, in 1866 after a difficult journey from Michigan to an environment that was so rugged the sheep he had driven from MI died their first winter in MN.
Now the oldest house in Fairmont, the Chubb House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been completely restored with period furnishings.
