For anyone researching this family, please note that "Churchill Family in America" (CFA) has an erroneous date of death for Margaret Dates, the wife of Stephen W. Churchill and mother of Mary Elizabeth and Charlotte. An indication of the error is suggested by CFA's statement that after his wife's death Stephen W. lived with some one of his children from time to time, mostly with Zaccheus. If the CFA date of 1891 for Margaret Dates were correct, Stephen W. would have been 99 at the time and not likely to have lived with "some one of his children from time to time."

In fact, Margaret Dates died prior to 1860. I have recently exchanged e-mails with Rose Churchill of this family, who has found that the 1860 census shows Stephen as a widower. She says that he is buried at Harbor Creek, Pennsylvania, which corroborates the CFA account that he died at his son Zaccheus's home at Harbor Creek. Zaccheus and his wife Sarah Jane Beardsley are buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Erie, Pennsylvania, which is on the edge of Harbor Creek Township. This also corroborates the CFA account that Zaccheus first moved to Harbor Creek and then to Erie.
