Some Churchills have claimed to be Royals but from what I find none are. WWII Sir Winston was by birth a Spencer-Churchill. That Hyphenated name comes from the English Spencer family. This Spencer family were Royals. The Churchill "Royal" claim comes through Anne Churchill the daughter Sir John Churchill the 1st Duke of Marlborough and his wife Sarah Jennings. Charles Spencer Married Anne Churchill. This made Anne a Royal by marriage. Her father Sir John was a Knight but she being his daughter conveyed no Royal blood to Sir John Churchill the 1st Duke of Marlborough. Her offsprings the Spencer-Churchills were and (are) Royals. They through Anne subsequently inheriated the Dukedom of Marlborough upon John's death circa 17th Century.
