Jeff,

Combined Service Records rarley have anything about family or age unless that information is revealed in a claim made by a family member of a man killed during the war. Did William live out his life in Missouri after the war? Since you came up empty in Kentucky, that might be a place to look. Pension applications and applications to veterans homes often contain the kind of information you are looking for. Unfortunately, Missouri did not start giving pensions to Confederate veterans until 1911, and then only to indigent individuals. If William died before that, you will likely not find anything there. They never did make widows eligible, so that too is a dead end. One last possibility in Missouri: The Confederate Soldiers Home of Missouri opened its doors in 1891. If he was indigent or incapacitated, he may have been admitted there, and his records there would likely have what you need. Of course this is all moot if he didn't live in Missouri!!

Rick
