Scott:

Thank you so much for the information.
One of my problems is that I do not know exactly when or where Robert Conley passed away. He lived most of his life in Adair Co. but I found him on the 1880 census in Hickory Co. Missouri. I found a posting (on a family tree) listing his date of death as January 1900, but no source and no location was given. I emailed the poster quite some time ago and have not received a response.

I looked at the website which you recommended. Could you please tell me if you ordered a confederate file from them and what you received? I realize that there is a good chance of not finding any records for Robert, but I curious as to what they are able to deliver.

I have looked for any record of a pension application but so far I have not made a match, but I will keep looking.
Thank you again.
Laura
