Bill, as you know, whenever I come across an interesting Civil War photo I think of you. See photo of Robert M. Jamison at:
http://members.cox.net/~jynb/p16131.htm
The only problem is that Robert was a private in the 49th Indiana Infantry, and this does not look like the photo of a private. We cannot identify either the uniform, or the hat on the table.
So I thought I would run this one past your expert eyes and see if you could shed any light on it, or offer any suggestions for solving this little puzzle.
