Your John Ryan filed for and received an invalid's pension for his service in Company "A",25th Illinois Infantry in what appears to say Aug 17,1873.
(application @ 182195 & Certificate # 154698)

His widow,Martha A. Ryan received her pension (unreadable)
(application # 606875 & Certicate # 460176)

You may want to order these files from the National Archives to see if they gives any more family or military history.
