Not sure what you mean by a teamster. The military term for wagon driver was wagoner. If you are asking if a wagoner ever took up arms against opposing soldiers I'd say "yes", although I can't cite any specific instances. I am aware of musicians entering into battle(with something more lethal than a tuba).
