Thanks, Bill. I was just repeating what was written on his papers and that was "Teamster." I read another message board contribution about "teamsters" that stated that teamsters took care of the horses and "wagoners" took care of the wagons..maintenance, etc. My gg grandfather died in May 1864 of "wounds" during the Overland Campaign. I guess what you gave me indicates that he may have well been in the actual fight as well as being hit by artillery or a stray bullet as a teamster, with manpower being such a problem in the last years of the war for the South.
