Did the Civil War enlist men in their 50's ?
My GGG-grandfather was born in 1810 Woodbury, Cannon Co. TN.
I'm trying to figure out if he would have served in the Civil War.
His son Samuel Houston STEPHENS was in the Civil War. He is mentioned in the Wharton Diaries as S.H.STEPHENS.
There are some Elijah STEPHENS mentioned on Ancestry.com that were in the Civil War, but I have no idea if any one of them would be my Elijah.
Is there a way to find who these Elijah STEPHENS are ?
