I don't know if Elijah STEPHENS did enlist and which service he would have enlisted in. I was looking at the Confederate side mostly because of his son. I will look into the Union also now that my understanding is a little clearer now.
I do know that Elijah STEPHENS son Samuel Houston "S.H." STEPHENS was in the 18th Reg't TN. Volunteers Infantry Company A, Capt. M.R.RUSHINGS Co.
