Nelda --

You must ask yourself why this man would decide to leave his family and join the army. Who would provide for the family while he was away? Who would be there to protect his wife and children if anyone tried to harm them or steal from his farm? Most Tennessee households were endangered during much of the war, and the typical male isn't inclined to abandon a family under these circusmtances. Do you have a convincing account explaining why this man would have left his wife and children to fend for themselves? Without one, I'm not inclined to believe that he left home to join either army.
