Another place where you might look.. If you know which NY regiment he was with and the county where the regiment was raised, perhaps the County Historic Society can help. My experience is primarily with PA, but a lot of counties put together county histories during the latter part of the 1800s. Most of these histories devoted several chapters to the War Between the States and most contain lists of all the men from the county who served. If you know the county where he lived, you may not need to know the regiment. Just a thought. Good Luck! Notify Administrator about this message?
