My ancestor Micajah Blackwell Served twice in the Confederacy. I have his records from footnote and I have a few quaestions. His first service was in Company A, 50th Regiment of Tennessee Infantry Volunteers CSA. There were only three index cards to his service in this regiment and they state the following: 1st Index Card M. Blackwell Pvt. Capt. T.W. Beaumont's Company 50th Tenn Inf. Age 32 Enlisted Oct. 24,1861 in Dickson Co. Tenn For 12 Mos ______________________ 2nd Index Card M. Blackwell Pvt. Capt. T.W. Beaumont's Company 50th Tenn Inf. Roll Dated Sept. 22,1861- Recorded Sept. 1862 Enlisted Oct. 17,1861 in Dickson County, Tenn by Beaumont for 12 Mos Remarks Discharged Nov. 10,1861 ______________________ 3rd Index Card 5th Tenn Blackwell Pvt. Lieut. J.S. Martin's Company 50 Tenn Age 35 Roll Taken Tilton, GA Jan. 26,1864 Enlisted Nov. 1,1861 in Montgomery County, Tenn By Beaumont Remarks Nov./61 I was wondering why would he be listed in a Regimental Return on Jan. 26,1864 if he had been Discharged Nov. 10,1861. Also how could a soldier get a discharge when he just entered the Confederate Army when he enlisted under the terms saying he would serve for 12 mons. Now what gets even more difficult is his second time he was in the Confederate Army. His record has the following information. Co. C, 11th Tenn Inf Vol CSA Pvt. Micajah Blackwell was conscripted on Feb. 4,1863 Captured July 2,1963 during the retreat from Tullahoma to Chattanooga. Somtime between Nov. and Dec. 1863 he made his escape but never returned. The only Question I have for this one is does anyone know of a prisoner escapeing from a Yankee POW camp between Nov. and Dec. 1863. I am just trying to get this all sorted out.TIA Christopher Notify Administrator about this message?
