The link below seems to indicate that Company K was serving as Lincoln's guard.

If Tupper was detailed as a guard separately from his Company, it would probably be noted in his service record.

I did see an auction listing where a Confederate stamp, removed from a Confederate soldier's letter by Colby, was sold in Nashville last year...thought it was interesting:
