I have never seen the name GILLESPIE recorded as CLASBY, but my own GILLESPIE ancestor is first recorded in 1745 in North Carolina as GLASSBY.

DNA testing of CLASBY descendants would reveal if there are deep Y-DNA family connections.

At this time there isn't a CLASBY DNA Project and a search just revealed that no CLASBYS have tested their DNA. Maybe it's about time.
