I will give you the details on the marriage certificate the place being Parish Church of Sheffield (which is now the Sheffield Cathedral) on 1 October 1889 when Edward was a Batchelor, occupation labourer and Sarah Kenney (no occupation for Sarah) was 20 a spinster. The were both living at 8 Cross Love Street, Sheffield, at which address Sarah's mother death in December 1889 was registered at and the Sarah's full name of Sarah Ellen CALASBY (note different spelling). Sarah made her mark on both her marriage and her mothers deather certificates. Edward's father was James CLASBY deceased and Sarah's father was John KENNY deceased. I found John Kenny on the 1871 census with his wife also Sarah, son John and baby Sarah and John is listed as born Ireland. The story is that Sarah Ellen did marry an Irish man and their was some upset when Sarah Ellen's daughter pre marriage to Edward (not know if he is her father) married a non Catholic. He was actually callen Reuben Benson so I wonder if he was Jewish, Reuben usually beng a Jewish name (but maybe non practising) as the name goes through the family but they did marry in the Sheffield Parish Church. It is known that Sarah Ellen married at least 3 times, I have this from the daughter of one of the marriages but I cant find anything to substantuate this.
