Hi Ronald,
Yes, the whole process if very interesting...and what I find interesting is, My line is Clave not Clive but they are probably the same. Anyway on the IGI there is an Anthony Clave in Old Luce m. to Jean/Jane/Janet Templeton and also an Anthony Clave married to Sarah Linwood. He had a son James bp. June 8, 1843 Old Luce, Wigtown. The Anthony married to Jane and/Jean Templeton is in the same area as the one with Sarah. Ages of the kids are really close.
Anyway I have a theory??? UNLESS there is more than one Anthony??? Which I think is a very good possibility.

Firstly we have an Anthony and JANET Templeton with son James 1841 in Old Luce. Maybe she died???
Then we have Anthony m. to Sarah Linwood and had James bp. 1843 Old Luce...so maybe James died young...and maybe that wife Sarah too. Then we have Anthony Clave married to JEAN Templeton (Poss. sister to Janet) and had Peter 1843 Old Luce,Jane b. 1845 Old L., Marianne 1848 Old L.,David 1850 Old Luce, Eliz. 1852 Old L. and the Agnes b. 1854 Old Luce. Then we come to Anthony m. to JANE Templeton (another sister???) and had Helen in 1856 Inch where he moved ? and then William in 1858 Inch, and then Twins Andrew
and Peter both 26 Jan. 1862 Inch, Wigtown.
Anyway it fits so good (IGI is where I got it).
You probably already know this but ....
Happy hunting,
Shelley
