I am trying to find information on my Grandfather James Edgar Clayton. He was born 1889 in Virginia But must have been a travler. He was married 1st in Arkansas and had a daughter named Charlotte Clayton. He then married my Grandmother Sallie (Bowman) Hardcastle, her 2nd marriage, abt. 1940 in Smith Co, Tn. Had 1 daughter named Kathleen Clayton b.1941 in Wilson Co, Tn. I have a letter written to Sallie Hardcastle from Charlotte Clayton postmarked Nov. 18, 1939 from Arkansas. Charlotte said she hasn't seen her father in 5 months and thinks he was in New Port. I also have a rent receipt dated July 15 1941 made to James Clayton in Smith Co, Tn. but I think he left soon after that to parts unknown. If anyone has information on James Clayton PLEASE let me know..
