You referred to a Thomas Clayton in Columbis City,GA. Do you mean Columbia County? Columbis, GA did not exist in 1797 and the place where it's located now was deep in Indian territory at that time. Columbia County did exist then. It would make more sense as it existed then and was one of the "feeder" counties through which many settlers migrated on their way west to other points in GA.

I have a researcher who is going to check this out but I need clarification before they can continue. Please respond ASAP. Thanks and I'll be looking forward to hearing from you soon.
