Arminta Catherin Clear is also my greatgrandmother.
She is buried in Hanging Rock cemetery in Lawrence County, Ohio. She died in Napoleon, Ohio at her son Henry Bates home on 20 November 1926. She was born to James M. Clear and Tabertha Rose on 17 April 1855 in Pikeville, Kentucky.
She is listed in the 1860 Census wih her siblings: Henry, Phoebe, Sarah, Mary (Orleana), David, Margaret, A.T., Lucinda, Virginia and John. The first six children also appear in the 1850 census.

Arminta was married at least twice. From one husband she had a daughter named Sarepta. She married George Allen Bates on 28 February 1880 in Wayne County, West Virginia. They had seven children: John (my grandfather), James, Thomas, Lott, Lucy, Benjamin and Henry. They lived in Lawrence County Ohio until she filed for divorce in 1903. I do not know whether they obtained a divorce or not.

Clifford Clear is the son of Grace Clear. I do not know the relationship between Arminta Catherine and Grace.
